Hello! I’m Rachel, founder and editor of Kismet Editing. I specialize in editing and proofreading divinatory, wellness, and spiritual topics. I have over 10 years of experience both in-house and consulting as a senior copyeditor and proofreader, and I’m a dedicated student and practitioner of traditional astrology, Holy Fire reiki, and yoga philosophy and practices. I have editing experience with both American and British English, and in academic, technical, governmental, and journalism environments. Copyediting and Line Editing
Depending on your needs as a writer and the needs of your manuscript, I can perform different levels of editing. A copyedit typically occurs after a developmental edit and can vary from light to heavy in which the focus is on the manuscript at the sentence level.
I take conscious language seriously and edit and query to current standards for sensitive language to ensure it is bias-free and considerate of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Proofreading
I offer technical proofreading services. I address any grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors; correct errors overlooked during copyediting; and ensure the copy adheres to your preferred style guide and to industry-standard terminology.
I employ sensitive reading during the process and will point out and query language that does not meet current language trends and standards, and any words or terms that are inaccurate or harmful.
Other Services
In addition to editing, I have over nine years of experience transcribing voice recordings into text. If you have a podcast, webinar, or other recording and would like the content converted into a text file—or if the text was auto-generated and you would like to have it proofread—I can help!
